Lookie Lookie - A new Look and Feel

Well as you may have seen (if you have been here before) there is  a new look and feel on the site.  You may ask yourself why - simple answer - because I could.  So anyway I am going to try this one out and see what I think - when I get bored - no doubt it will change again.

I have added in another couple of things that I thought were quite good including some links to sites that I use a lot, or belong to people that I like - so go on, check them out. 

Other than that there is not a lot to say about the work on the site - I will add more things as I think of them.

Underworld Evolution

Yesterday we decided that we would head to the pictures. We have not been for a while as we got kind of pissed with sitting though 30 minutes or more of adverts and trailers when we went to go and see anything. Anyhow we were both kind of excited by the fact that Underworld Evolution was coming out. We had seen the trailers and it looked pretty good all things considered. I had really enjoyed the first one, even though a lot of people did not. I guess that there was something a bit odd about the very proper speaking vampire played by Kate Benkinsale, but still I thought it was an enjoyable flick. You really cannot beat films about vampires and werewolves in my mind. The original film had shunned the usual hammey action in favour of a more matrix like experience and it worked for me.

Anyhow with high expectations and some nervousness we went off to see the sequel (rarely have I seem a sequel that was as good as the original). it turned out that my nerves were misplaced. It really was a top movie - lots of action and thrills. I grant you there was not so much of a storey in this one as the original but what was there did make some sense. There was a greater focus on the set pieces of action and they were strung together really well. There were some top effects and all in all it was a good mindless piece of film. The only part that was a bit disapointing for me was the very end. It was pretty obvious but did not detract too much from the whole experience. It is well worth a look if you are looking to switch off for a couple of hours

Other Trailers

Feeling somewhat inspired I came in and had a look at some of the trailers that are online at the minute and , you know, there are some good ones out there. I particularly liked the one for the new Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Mans Chest film. the trailer makes it look just as good as the original (which is just a top film). I also liked the new X-Men movie Beast looks cool and it looks like it will be a pretty cool film. There were some other cool ones as well, but currently they escape me. Have a look online though and check them out.

2006

Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas.

This is just a quick message to say Happy New Year. Here is hoping that 2006 brings us all we desire

Top 500

Listening to the radio this morning they have been talking about something that they are doing in the run up to Christmas - a top 500 songs of all time as voted for by the listeners. We were in the car at the time and started wondering what would be in the top10 from last years poll thing they they did - turned out we guessed some of the songs but not some others, and we certainly did not get the order right. This then lead onto what would you say are your top 3 songs of all time that you like. I figured this would be an easy one to get - I mean after all there are always songs that you really like, but as to be expected it was not so much on the easy side.

Anyhow I think I will ponder this some more while trying to get my ipod to work.

Santa Badger and sad things

Todays blog is a mix of funny and cool with a large dose of sad.

I guess we will look at the sad bit first off. This weekend we had bad news - my other Grandfather passed away. It was a shock as we were not expecting this - he had been a bit poorly for a while but things took a nasty turn at the weekend and he did not make it through to see another Christmas. While we are sad that he has gone we cannot be sad at the way he went. My parents had been up visiting him and had taken him out for te day. By all accounts he had a great day though he was tired when they got back. The next day after being taken to hospital he passed on. It was as if he had hung on to enjoy the visit and be with them one last time before he went.

My Grandad Flood was a large, strong man who knew his mind and what he liked. He could be gruff but it was just his way and he made sure that we knew he cared. He was strong not just in body but in spirit - especially when he managed to look after my grandmother when she was ill. I think that he has passed some of that strength onto his children and grandchildren. He never seemed happier than when he had had family around him - especially when all the grandchildren were there - and that is what we will try and remember

Something Cool

Despite there being a sad start to this blog I have found something to end on a high note with. As promised I have looked for something cool to add onto the site and by pouring through some old sites I found a couple of badgers that were cool.

Badgers you say - what on earth is she talking about. Well by now you will be aware of my love of Weebls.com and all the wee toon animations that they do, well for Christmas last year there was a special edition of the regular badger toon - made especially for Christmas. If you click on this link to the advent calendar and then select 24th December you will see it in all its glory. The other days are cool as well so give them a go. Oh and let the entry for the 24th run past just the Santa, Santa etc and presents to see the whole thing.

Oh and I have to tell you about my other top choice on the calander - check out day 19. I am sure you will recall me raving about kenya - well this is just top, and in much the same vein.

I think I will finish off with a mention of one of my other top picks from Weebls and it is back to the pesky badgers again - but this is one that has always tickled me - anyway check out the special edition
