International Talk Like a Pirate Day
Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at 11:31PM
Well Monday was international talk like a pirate day - so I hope you all managed to talk like a pirate for the day. Despite an initial attempt we failed miserably I am sorry to say - must try harder next year!
Other than that there is not a lot going on here at the moment - just working and chores. The usual really, which is sad but true - oh to have an exciting life - or at least something that approximates it.
So anyhow I have been reading a new book that has taken a while to get going but now is actually pretty good. Blood Price by Tanya Huff is yet another vampire book that I have picked up on my mooching travels. The back story is an ex homicide detective has started work as a PI having left the police force due to medical reasons. Of course she gets tied up in some odd happenings and it all has something to do with Vampires (though what I am not saying).
I know that it sounds like your run of the mill PI/Police type novel and in a lot of ways it is. It is a good romp though the old vampire type stories that are around, and you know it holds its own pretty well. To be honest I am not sure if it is something to do with PI stories or just things that o bump in the night that brings me back to these books but they are a good laugh, and there is nothing better than giving yourself a bit of a fright.
It could well be the PI thing though - I mean I do own the first series of Magnum PI and you have to love 80's naff telly.
In terms of telly the Teautles are back with American Chopper - a fly on the wall show following a family run chopper makers in New York. Paul Snr is a grumpy as ever and there are the usual arguments and what have you - but seeing the bikes they make is just amazing. If you are interested in what they do then check out their website (http://www.orangecountychoppers.com/). You can see the bikes that they have made and the scary men themselves. You should check out the photos section and see some of the custom bikes that they have made -I mean man those bikes totally rock. I tell you if I was to have a bike it would have to be one of those custom ones.
Anyways I guess there is not much other cool stuff going on at the minute - I mean we are almost in October which means that we are getting close to Christmas so that rocks. I love the dark nights and then all of the Christmas lights and snow and cold - it is great and it means that I can get all of the sparkly lights out and buy pressies for people. This year we have talked about it and we are only going for small pressies because we are looking to go to Vegas to see a UFC in February/March time. Anyway I will probably talk more about that next entry as I am most excited about it.
Well despite tonight having a not so good turn (some wee goit decided to break windows in the street) but this has cheered me up no end - which has to be a bonus, and after all tomorrow is another day. On that cheery note I will leave it here - have my tea and then crash out for the night......Ah the excitement
