A christmas summary
Friday, December 29, 2006 at 2:18AM
Well thats another christmas over and done with. This is always the strange time of the year where we have the dip following too much turkey and other good things, all the time thinking about how we will pay for everything we have spent
Anyway for christmas this year we went down to stay with my folks in Davetry to have a family christmas down there, rather than up here in suny Glasgow. Anyway this was the first christmas that Rob was going to spend away from his family, so it was all a bit strange for him.
As per the rules of all things - it being holiday season and all - I have been struck down with the lugey and have spent a lot of the holiday season feeling like crud - but hey it makes a change from being sick at new year. With any luck I should be back up and running before New Year comes round.
The journey down was pretty uneventful - all things considered. The standard 6 hours with only 1 small delay - which when you think about the number of cars on the road was not too bad. Christmas eve took the form of preperation for the big day and a trip to the picture house to go and see Eragon before going to the midnight service at the local kirk.
Eragon was a film that had a lot of potential but it just never managed to live up to it. The plot did not seem to hold together which I thik had a lot to do with the way that they cut the film. There were large chunks that made no sense and quite a few continuity glitches as well. Usually I really like Jeremy Irons and John Malcovitch but they did not get the opertunity to do anything in the film other than look like they were bored and in a bad panto - and Robert Carlyle just did not seem to know what was happening.
Christmas day was cool - we had a slow start with everyone opening their stockings - which contained the usual fu stuff - nothing too useful but that is the whole point of them - they are supposed to be fun. We then went off to open gifts, and a lot of really cool stuff was had by all. As afternoon came upon us there was the requisite amount of playing with gadgets and games.
As a bit of a laugh I had purchased guitar hero 2 and we spent a few hours having a play at that . It is actually harder than you would thing - and after a few beers it is a lot of fun.
Boxing day involved a trip to Cambrridge to see my aunt and her family. A lot of good food was consumed and for some a lot of drink as well. I will get around to putting up a family picture in a few days when I work out how to get the images onto the mac. Anyway the trip home was somewhat more eventful and involved unexoected projectile vomit and Rob having to clean the car at 10.30pm.
Following this ' adventure' we spent an extra day at my folks allowing the car to have a further clean and de-stink though we did loose the nav cd for the car. It was actually good to have an extra day to re-coupe before heading back up North.
We are now back at home with stuff all over the place chilling out for the evening while watching NYPD Blue Season 1 on DVD.
Hope you all had a great christmas where ever you were. See you all soon - while now I require Tea.
